Use case · YC pre-PMF

Cold email for YC founders — the in-batch playbook.

You have 8-10 weeks left in batch and a half-validated ICP. Cold email is the cheapest way to test which version of your ICP actually converts. Done wrong, it burns your founder domain.

The problem

Most batch founders try to send from their founder@company.com. Two weeks in, that address starts going to spam. By demo day, the domain reputation is too low to recover before the post-batch fundraise. The fix is an isolated sending estate provisioned in the first 14 days of batch — separate domain, warmed mailboxes, full authentication, and a copy framework that survives ICP iteration.

Why this is different

What changes for this use case.

  • ·Batch founders run multi-ICP tests in parallel — not just one segment. The sending estate has to support that.
  • ·21-28 day domain warmup means starting infrastructure the week you arrive, not the week you decide to send.
  • ·YC's Bookface and batch Slack give a parallel warm-intro channel — the cold layer is for ICPs you can't reach there.
